Cute, yet fierce, this monkey head from around 1870 is finely carved in labradorite with a high carat plain back and rope twist border, with rope twist bail.

His eyes are tiny old cut diamonds, and his teeth look to be carved agate.

Labradorite is a feldspar mineral that's often used as a gemstone or ornamental material. It's found in igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks, and is valued for its iridescence. Labradorite is named after Labrador, Canada, where it was first discovered in 1770
