Beautiful Pair Of Museum Quality Georgian Clasps Circa 1780, England.
Two wonderful Georgian Bracelet Clasps, 15 carat gold lozenge shapes, with high domed glass windows, beneath which are hand painted sepia scenes-
The first: a lady dressed as a shepherdess playing a Lute, the scene having a three dimensional aspect, the column with goldwork and a banner projecting forward by being built up somewhat from the background. She wears a three dimensional garland of flowers in her hair
The second: Another lady dressed as a shepherdess, wearing and elaborate headdress, and holding a three dimensional basket containing two doves, set upon a column.
Both scenes are extremely finely painted with background scenes of cypress trees, and fine goldwork accents.
These pieces could be strung with pearls or fine gold chain, but i recommennd them for the collector, rather than the wearer of fine jewellery.
