Utterly charming Large Victorian Intaglio Pendant (converted from a brooch) depicting a German Spitz dog named Muff, carved into a very large faceted citrine.
Muff was a very popular name for a small fluffy white lap dog in the 19th Century - as they looked like muffs and kept the hands warm!! (especially when in the back of a carriage)
There is an Essex crystal in the British Museum depicting the head of a Spitz dog, also called Muff, dated 1862.
