Very wearable Sicilian ouroboros snake hoop earrings modelled in high carat gold dating from around 1820 -30
 
The faces are somewhat abstract.
These earrings are applied from the back to the front and the clip goes through his nose. 
The circle at the top stops the earring from dropping forward.
