This case was used to store a sewing implement called a bodkin. Shaped like an oversized sewing needle with a blunt point and large eye, a bodkin is used to pull a drawstring through a fabric casing.
This bodkin case is fashioned as a man's leg, He wears yellow breeches with a pink ribbon to hold up his silk stockings and a black shoe with a gold buckle.
The case is made of porcelain, with a silver hinged lid.
