Wonderful late Georgian chain dating from around 1830, modelled in 18 carat gold.
The star of the piece however, is truly the barrel clasp, which is pentagonal in shape (5 sided) chased with the classic acanthus pattern and set with rubies and diamonds, except for one side which is set with sapphires and diamonds.
 
The chain is a classic lightweight 18 carat gold rope twist chain, the gold textured with dots to catch the candle light.
 
The clasp measures - 28mm long
