Rare Georgian Demi Parure Comprising Collar And Brooch
Inticately woven from gut, similar to that of fishing line and guitar strings, before it was made from plastic.
Formed from a kind of crochet stitch, a skill now lost. The pieces look so ephemeral and would look beautiful worn with a wedding dress.
The collar is formed as seven flowers, linked together with chains, and two drops with pom poms.
The brooch designed as a flower with fluffy central stamens, and swirls of fine stitiching. Three drops hang from the flower, each with three swirls.
The back is set with a silver metal pin and base.
The collar measures 17" long with the drop about 75mm
The brooch 90mm x 65mm
A beautiful and rare piece of history
