Wonderful georgian micromosaic from the late eighteenth century circa 1790, finely modelled as a fly, set into an octagonal goldstone.
The gold mount echoes the octagonal shape of the goldstone and is crafted in 22 carat gold (and hallmarked) and made especially for the mosaic.
The mosaic would be Grand Tour Italian, bought by a Georgian on their european tour.
The colour of the 22 carat gold is perfection, and because it is softer than 18 carat the ring will achieve a beautiful patina fairly quickly.
Which one do I love more? The fly or the ladybird, I can't decide!
