A wonderful antique silver (italian silver not sterling) dog collar dating to the early 19th century, lined with red morocco leather.
At the centre back there is a curved seed shaped panel edged with diamond pastes, the centre engraved 'Eliza Matilda Wood Sept 28th 1831, Napoli'
Then set at 3 oclock and 9 o clock there two diamond shaped panels, their corners set with emerald, diamond and topaz coloured pastes, both their centres engraved with the dog's name 'Bijou'
An 8 with another indecipherable initial are stamped on the loop
The collar closes with a silver padlock engraved with the monogram LMT, and on the back the engraving F.H.R
The key is missing but the padlock clicks open and shut regardless
